Health Equity Youth Alliance
HEART of Saguache's Health Equity Youth Alliance (HEYA!) is a youth-led program dedicated to healing and resilience in the San Luis Valley. Our goal is to combat the effects of historical trauma and racism by equipping young people with anti-oppression training, critical thinking skills, and the tools to build a Valley-wide culture of belonging.

HEYA is currently composed of youth living in
the Saguache, San Luis, and Antonito areas. The program addresses systemic injustice by bringing together affected young people ages 13 to 19 to form relationships, learn the tenets of health equity, and build capacity. HEART is partnering with Move Mountains and Antonito Together on this pilot program. The HEYA program is made possible by funding from the The Colorado Health Foundation.
HEYA attended the 2023 Rita J Martinez Youth Leadership Conference in Pueblo resented on the Move Mountains work in San Luis and networked with peers from across the state of Colorado.
